VLT% - Visual Light Transmission indicates how much light will pass through the lens as measured in a lab test. The higher the VLT%, the more light goes through. A high % is usually ideal for dark conditions and a low % is usually ideal for bright conditions.
Bright Amber - VLT 90% - Cat. 0 - High contrast stock lens shipped with all Deathrays. The amber tint blocks out blue light, increasing trail contrast and sharpening rocks/roots before your very eyes. Best used in dimly lit conditions typical in the UK.
Crystal Clear - VLT 90% - Cat. 0 - Un-tinted for the most natural view of the trail.
Photochromic - VLT 10-90% - Cat. 3-0 - Our most versatile lens, transitioning between clear and smoked depending on lighting conditions.
Emerald Sky - VLT 28% - Cat. 2 The lightest of our mirrored lenses, perfect for bright days in and out of the woods.
Crimson Red - VLT 25% - Cat. 2 Medium tinted mirrored lens best used within bright open conditions.
Rose Gold - VLT 18% - Cat. 3 The darkest of the available lenses, use only within the brightest open conditions, or as casual beach attire.
Polarized Vs. Non-polarized - All of our lens options are non-polarized. Polarized lenses eliminate glare from surfaces like snow and water, which is beneficial for some sports but not ideal for mountain biking due to the inability to effectively spot wet features, some studies have even shown that it can distort depth perception. Accurate trail perception is crucial for reaction time and distance judgment making non-polarized the optimum lens choice for MTB.
